FORECAST IN DETAIL
Our wacky spring weather keeps bouncing around on us — warm, cool, warm again — plus the chance of rain. Look for another burst of warmth today, with showers and perhaps a thunderstorm to complicate our situation into this afternoon. Tomorrow and Thursday cool down and clear out, then more rain arrives to dampen Friday and the start of the weekend. Sunday looks salvageable!
Today (Tuesday): Scattered showers or thundershowers dot the area early this morning under mostly cloudy skies and steadily rising temperatures. More steady rain and some rumbles of thunder roll into the area by middle to late morning. Highs by middle to late afternoon should reach the lower to middle 70s. More showers and storms are possible this afternoon. Some of those storms may be strong with heavy downpours and gusty winds. We could pick up a needed quarter to half inch of precipitation. Winds from the south at 5 to 10 mph but locally gusty around storms. Confidence: Medium-high
Tonight: Mostly cloudy with a few evening showers or storms possible. Another trace to tenth of an inch of rain possible. Lows dip down to around 50 as winds blow from the west and then north at about 5 to 10 mph. Confidence: Medium-high
Tomorrow (Wednesday): Partly sunny skies return with temperatures fairly comfortable in the middle to upper 60s. This is almost a Nice Day qualifier if we can get more mostly sunny skies. Light winds from the north at around 10 mph. Confidence: Medium-high
Tomorrow night: Just a few clouds out and about as temperatures fall to their lowest points of this week. Lows aim for the middle 30s in the outer suburbs to the middle 40s right in the city. Everyone should at least escape freezing temperatures this time around. Confidence: Medium-high
A LOOK AHEAD
Thursday also looks partly sunny but with cooler temperatures as highs only manage the middle to upper 50s. Thursday night finds increasing clouds with scattered showers possible by late night as lows dip into the 40s. Confidence: Medium
Friday features cloudy skies with periods of rain and temperatures hold to the cooler 50s for highs. Rain could be heavy at times. More rain is likely Friday night with lows in the 40s to around 50. Confidence: Medium
Clouds and a few showers may linger Saturday, but highs reach into the 60s. Partly cloudy Saturday night with lows down into the 40s. Sunday may manage partly sunny skies — especially by afternoon — with highs again in the unobjectionable 60s. Confidence: Low-medium
