We’ve suffered through seven straight days of humid weather and, mercifully, it’s about to end. Today, muggy Monday, is the conclusion. Tuesday and particularly Wednesday, a welcome high-humidity hiatus arrives. The stickiness tries to sneak back late this week but shouldn’t be as intense, and a cold front will effort to nudge it away for the weekend.

Today (Monday): We’ll have variable skies today with some showers possible in the morning and perhaps another round with some thunder in the afternoon — especially in our eastern areas. Assuming intervals of sunshine materialize, many of us hit at least 90 degrees, otherwise upper 80s might do it. Humidity remains up there – with dew points close to 70. Winds become light out of the west. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Clouds decrease as the night wears on and humidity levels gradually become more comfortable. Lows range from the mid-60s in our cooler areas to the low 70s downtown. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Tuesday): Humidity levels are more moderate (dew points in the 60s) and it’s less hot than it’s been in more than a week. Under a mix of sun and clouds, highs reach the mid- to upper 80s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: This is a very pleasant summer evening and night – with just a few clouds and lows ranging from the 60s in most spots to around 70 downtown. Confidence: Medium-High

Wednesday is the front-runner to be the week’s nicest day, with partly to mostly sunny skies, moderate humidity (dew points near 60) and highs in the mid-80s. Overnight temperatures fall back into the 60s in most spots. Confidence: Medium-High

On Thursday and Friday, more typical late July Washington weather returns. Humidity levels are back up (dew points near 70) and high temperatures run up to near 90. Thursday presents the chance of a shower, with a better chance of more widespread showers and storms on Friday — especially late in the day. Lows are around 70. Confidence: Medium

The weekend has the potential to be a good one, but it depends on how far the cold front pushing through the region late Friday gets. If it ends up safely southeast of our area, both days should feature a good deal of sunshine, comfortable high temperatures in the 80s and falling humidity levels. However, if the front hangs around close to us, we’ll have more humidity, clouds and shower chances — especially on Saturday. Confidence: Low-Medium
