In recent weeks, the D.C.region has faced bouts of suffocating heat and heavy rains. This week offers a break from extreme weather and features generally quiet, seasonable conditions. Temperatures do heat up some as the week wears on and we introduce storm chances, but there are no signs of anything out of the ordinary.

Today (Monday): It’s a refreshing start to the day with most of us in the 60s. We’ll have uninhibited sunshine for much of the day boosting high temperatures into the mid-80s. Humidity levels stay comfortable with dew points in the 50s to near 60. Winds are light from the north. Confidence: High

Tonight: Mostly clear and pleasant. Evening readings fall back into the 70s and overnight lows range from the mid-60s in our cooler areas to the low 70s downtown. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Tuesday): Like Monday, it’s still sunny but it’s also a little warmer and a touch more humid. Highs reach the mid-to-upper 80s. Dew points sneaking into the 60s offers just a hint of mugginess. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: The first evening of August feels very Augustlike. With just a few clouds, it’s warm and a tad humid with overnight lows from the upper 60s to the mid-70s downtown. Confidence: High

The stretch Wednesday through Friday gives us very typical early August weather. Skies are partly sunny and highs each day are in the upper 80s to around 90. Lows are mostly in the 70s. Each afternoon-evening, we can’t rule out a storm, but chances are only in the 20-30 percent range. Confidence: Medium-High

A cold front is likely to sweep through the region Saturday, bringing the week’s best chance of showers and storms but they won’t be anything like this past Friday-Saturday. Highs are in the 80s with lows Saturday night falling back into the 60s. Confidence: Medium

Assuming Saturday’s front pushes far enough to the south, Sunday should return a good deal of sunshine, reduced humidity and pleasant highs not far above 80. Confidence: Medium
