FORECAST IN DETAIL

You may still sweat a little and want to grab a small umbrella for a few hours this weekend, but all-in-all not a terrible string of days ahead. Yes, warmer and more muggy than last weekend. But, hey, that was too good to last without revisiting more typical D.C. late-summer conditions, right?

Today (Friday): Skies should be clearer than not and we should stay mostly dry, on the whole. There’s a chance of an isolated shower by mid-to-late afternoon. Not sure if or when we might see some cloudier conditions, but so far clouds appear most likely very early morning or later in the afternoon. Mugginess isn’t terrible, but it’s around. High temperatures top out around 80, to perhaps mid-80s south of town. Confidence: Medium

Tonight: We should stay dry and partly cloudy (or better). Breezes are nearly calm. Our fairly steady mugginess levels of “I’m here, would you like to sweat a bit?” or so. Downtown may bottom out near 70 degrees, but mostly in the 60s, outside of the Beltway. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Saturday): Sunshine may start the day, but clouds and isolated showers could move in midday into the afternoon. High temperatures still get nice and warm, in the low-to-mid 80s with a little extra sweat factor to consider as well. Breezes remain light and variable in direction. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: Clearer skies look possible, and dry conditions may reign. Nearly calm, perhaps barely a breeze. Low temperatures end up in the low-to-mid 60s, but that assumes it stays mostly clear and calm. Downtown may have a hard time cooling that much, but we’ll see. Confidence: Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

Sunday:  We’ll see some sunshine through the day. There’s again a risk of a few afternoon showers. The sun should help boost semi-muggy conditions toward high temperatures around 80 to perhaps mid-80s in the warm spots. Confidence: Medium

Sunday night: There’s a slight chance of showers but overall nothing too much to worry about. Skies may want to stay more clear than not. Predawn low temperatures stay somewhat summery but not terribly tropical, bottoming out in the mid-to-upper 60s. Confidence: Medium

Sunshine may dominate, with perhaps a tad less mugginess for Monday and Tuesday. Around 80 degrees to perhaps a few mid-80s (mainly south of town) appear possible. It shouldn’t feel too tropical, but summer weather lovers may still like it. Just use a bit of sunscreen if outside during midday hours! Stay tuned for slight forecast tweaks as we get closer. Confidence: Low-Medium
