The extreme humidity is slowly fading this week. Clouds still hang around and a second low pressure area from the Midwest delivers more showers and dreariness tomorrow into Thursday — although temperatures will edge cooler. Friday slowly dries but doesn’t really clear much, and the weekend is aiming to be fairly nice and warm for mid-October standards.

Today (Tuesday):  Watch for some patchy fog in the morning commute window.  And we can’t shake off those clouds most of the time today as temperatures work their way back up to a warm 80 to 85F high temperature range.  Some partly sunny breaks are happening. Humidity is not quite as high as yesterday, but still qualifies as moderate intensity and unusually strong for October (dew points in the 60s).  Light winds blow mainly from the southwest.  Confidence: Medium

Tonight: Mostly cloudy again with lows ranging through the 60s with continued moderate humidity.  Some light showers possible toward the early side of the morning commute.  Light winds from the northeast. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow (Wednesday): Our next low-pressure system arrives to deliver more showers to the area.  Skies remain mostly cloudy and temperatures are slightly cooler with highs in the middle to upper 70s (moderate humidity with dew points still in the 60s). Rain totals range from a tenth to a quarter-inch, but locally higher amounts possible north and west of the city.  Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: More showers, possibly heavier at times, with cloudy skies and lows dropping down into the low to middle 60s.  Precipitation totals could be as much as a tenth to a quarter-inch again, but locally up to a half-inch. Confidence: Low-medium.

Thursday is another dreary, damp day with light rain or mist at times and highs in the cooler upper 60s to around 70.  Cloudy skies dominate again. Thursday night could see a little drizzle or mist with lows in the cooler 50s finally.  Confidence: Low-medium

Friday finds yet more cloudy skies, but it should be on the dry side overall with highs a bit warmer into the low 70s.  Humidity is noticeably lower though, too.  Friday night looks cloudy once more with lows in the upper 50s to low 60s.  Confidence: Low-medium

This weekend is likely going to generate mixed emotions from our reading audience.  Partly to mostly sunny skies offer a welcome break from this week’s drab dreariness, but temperatures in the low 80s during the afternoon may be too warm for those yearning for an autumnal angle. Humidity creeps back up into the moderate range too with dew points in the 60s again. Saturday night is partly cloudy with lows ranging in the 60s — which should be our highs this time of year. Confidence: Low-medium

Looking beyond the weekend finds another potential wet day later on Monday and still warm,  but then a period of cooler weather arrives Tuesday — but only briefly — as warmer than normal weather aims to return by late next week as this October continues to compete with 2007 for warmest on record.
