We were due for a colder pattern, and we’ve certainly got one here through the weekend. Highs are mainly in the 40s and 50s, with a particularly cold and breezy day on tap for Friday, followed by Friday night lows in the 20s. After the chance of a few isolated showers today, we’ll get a break in shower chances until Sunday.

Today (Wednesday): Drier air settles in today, although a few isolated showers remain possible. Temperatures climb out of the 30s this morning. But with partly to mostly cloudy skies and a cool breeze from the north at 5 to 10 mph, highs only make the upper 40s to low 50s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Evening temperatures fall steadily through the 40s. And with a light wind still from the north, overnight lows range from the mid-30s in our cooler outer suburbs to near 40 downtown, under partly cloudy skies. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Thursday): Higher pressure builds in just enough to turn our skies partly sunny. That means somewhat warmer afternoon highs in the 50s, with light winds. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: The evening should be a calm and cool one with partly to mostly clear skies. But overnight, a steadier breeze develops from the northwest, bringing in even colder and drier air as lows dip to the 30s area-wide. Confidence: High

Cold high pressure dominates Friday and Saturday, with plenty of sun, but highs only in the 40s. Friday should feel especially chilly with a pesky breeze from the northwest. Friday night should bring a solid freeze even in the city, with lows ranging through the 20s. Saturday night is only slightly warmer, with lows in the upper 20s to mid-30s. Confidence: Medium-High

The air mass warms up a bit for Sunday, but that’s countered by increasing clouds. So temperatures should remain fairly cold with highs in the mid-40s to low 50s, and a chance of showers by afternoon. Confidence: Low-Medium
