FORECAST IN DETAIL

This week we settle into a very November kind of weather pattern, without the big temperature changes we had last week when high temperatures swung from near 70 (Monday) to the 30s (Saturday). High temperatures most days are in the 50s with only small fluctuations.

No big storms bring heavy precipitation. After any light rain this morning, it will be mostly dry except for a small chance of showers Wednesday night. The week’s biggest weather-maker is likely to be a strong cold front coming through over the weekend, which may bring some showers and knock high temperatures back down into the 40s by Sunday.

Today (Monday): After some spotty light rain early on, skies will slowly clear with sunshine by the afternoon. It’s a chilly day overall, mostly in the 40s —  maybe touching 50 this afternoon. Calm winds come in from the north this afternoon at 5 to 10 mph. Confidence: medium-high

Tonight: Partly cloudy and chilly. A few of our colder spots will dip down to near freezing while lows are closer to near 40 downtown. Light winds. Confidence: high

Tomorrow (Tuesday): This will be a pretty nice although bracing November day. Under sunny skies, afternoon highs will rebound to 50-55 after starting the day mostly in the 30s. Light winds from the north. Confidence: high

Tomorrow night: Probably the week’s coldest night. Under clear skies and light winds, temperatures will tank — with lows ranging from the upper 20s in our colder areas to the mid-30s downtown. Confidence: medium-high

A LOOK AHEAD

Mostly sunny skies Wednesday and Thursday, and seasonably cool temperatures. High Wednesday will be in the low 50s, moderating to the mid-to-upper 50s on Thursday. Wednesday night is likely to bring an increase in clouds and perhaps a passing shower, with lows in the 40s, while Thursday night is clear with lows in the 30s. Confidence: medium-high

On Friday, we will be in between weather systems setting up a partly sunny day, with highs in the low 50s. Partly cloudy at night, as lows fall to near 40. Confidence: medium

A powerful cold front will plow through the region this weekend, probably late in the day Saturday or at night. Before the front arrives, temperatures may try to make a run at 60 degrees as clouds increase. Showers are likely as the front passes by — as early as Saturday afternoon — but more likely at night when lows fall to near 40. Sunday will turn partly sunny, very windy and colder, with highs only in the 40s. Confidence: medium
