FORECAST IN DETAIL

We’ve got another sunny, dry stretch of weather in the coming days, and it should at least start off rather seasonal. With time, temperatures warm into early next week. Breezes should die down a bit, after today, too. If you’ve got outdoor things that are easier to do when it’s not cold, you might want to try to get them done this weekend.

Today (Friday): Sunny but windy at times. Dress in a couple layers, despite roughly average high temperatures for this time of year — highs are expected to be in the low to mid-50s. Northwesterly breezes averaging around 10-15 mph could have a few gusts at times. The last of our remaining foliage may finally succumb! Confidence: High

Tonight: Northerly breezes should die down fairly quickly, and clouds may remain under control. Stargazers want to bundle up, though, with a notable drop in temperatures. By just before dawn, low temperatures downtown should bottom out in the mid-30s, with upper 20s likely outside of the Beltway. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Saturday): Only a few midday clouds but otherwise a bright, sunny day. Easterly breezes, if any, should stay very light. High temperatures should manage to top out in the low to mid-50s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Make sure you utilize mostly clear skies to view the full “super”moon! Breezes should be nearly nil — calm conditions — allowing low to mid-30s to feel as such, and not chilled further by any wind. Confidence: Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

Sunday: This one looks sunny, with only moderate breezes out of the west-northwest, around 5 mph. High temperatures should make it into at least the mid-50s but some upper 50s are also possible. Confidence: Medium-High

Sunday night: Another clear night and good potential to glance at the prominent moon. Breezes should remain light — perhaps a couple moments of breeze out of the north — with familiar low temperature ranges around 30, to mid-30s downtown. Confidence: Medium

For Monday we may have one last fully sunny day, with high temperatures in the 50s to perhaps near 60, if late day clouds don’t move in too quickly. Southerly breezes can really get going and blow in some milder air for us. It looks like a comfortable start to the work week! Confidence: Medium

Warmer conditions are possible on Tuesday as stronger southerly breezes help transport some air from the South into our region. Despite clouds, and some showers possible, high temperatures may get into the upper 50s to low 60s. If we see even more sunshine than currently expected, we could get even warmer. Stay tuned for forecast tweaks as we get closer. Confidence: Medium
