Alzner, Brouwer, Johansson among new arrivals on the ice

(Reuters)

The number of Capitals on the ice in Arlington continues to grow by the day as players trickle back to town prior to the start of training camp this weekend.

A total of 15 players are taking part in an informal practice this morning. Here’s the full list, starting with the new arrivals: Karl Alzner, Troy Brouwer, Marcus Johansson, Mathieu Perreault, Jeff Schultz, Alex Ovechkin, Mike Ribeiro, Jason Chimera, Matt Hendricks, Jay Beagle, John Carlson, Mike Green, John Erskine, Jack Hillen and Braden Holtby.

Nicklas Backstrom, who has returned in Washington, is not on the ice. He suffered a neck injury on Dec. 26 while playing for Dynamo Moscow in the KHL and his status for training camp is unclear.
