A day before the official start of training camp, the majority of Capitals players took to the ice for one final informal workout Saturday morning.

Twenty players took part including center Nicklas Backstrom, who was on the ice for a second straight day. Goaltender Michal Neuvirth, who has been battling a cold, and forward Wojtek Wolski made their first appearances on the ice in Arlington as well.

Brooks Laich, who is nursing an apparent groin injury, Marcus Johansson, Mike Ribeiro and Braden Holtby are not taking part in today’s skate.

Only player expected at training camp who has yet to arrive is junior prospect Tom Wilson, who played for the OHL’s Plymouth Whalers Friday night but he’s expected in Washington Saturday.
