Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby and defensemen Mike Green and Karl Alzner are among the 47 invitees to Hockey Canada’s orientation camp ahead of the 2014 Olympics in Sochi.

For Green, it’s a second chance to fulfill his dream of suiting up for Canada in the Olympics after missing the cut for the Vancouver Games in 2010. Canada’s camp will be held Aug. 25-28 in Calgary.

Fellow Capitals defenseman John Carlson is among 48 invitees to the United States team orientation camp from Aug. 26-27, at Kettler Capitals IcePlex.

Russia also announced its 35-player preliminary roster, which unsurprisingly includes Olympic ambassador Alex Ovechkin, along with top Capitals prospect Evgeny Kuznetsov. Former Capitals Semyon Varlamov, Alexander Semin and Sergei Gonchar will also attend Russia’s camp in Sochi, Aug. 23-24.

Sweden announced its Olympic camp roster last month and that list includes Capitals Nicklas Backstrom and Marcus Johansson.
