The NHL announced Tuesday night that Capitals winger Jason Chimera has been fined $4,487.18, or half of his daily salary which is the maximum allowed under the collective bargaining agreement, for boarding Edmonton Oilers defenseman Justin Schultz in Monday night’s game at Verizon Center.

Chimera received a minor penalty for boarding on the play, which occurred at 19:19 of the first period in Washington’s 4-2 win over the Oilers. Under the CBA, fines of $5,000 or less do not require a disciplinary hearing in order to be assessed.

The fine goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
