Open thread: Capitals at Sharks

(Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports)

SAN JOSE — The Capitals close out their three-game California road trip against the Sharks and look to keep creeping up the standings. Braden Holtby (19-14-3, 2.98 goals-against average, .911 save percentage) will make an unexpected start in San Jose as Jaroslav Halak is sidelined by a lower-body injury. Antti Niemi (35-14-6, 2.34 goals-against average, .914 save percentage) gets the nod for the Sharks.
