T.J. Oshie, who missed Thursday’s practice with the flu, won’t travel with the Washington Capitals to Newark for Friday’s game against the New Jersey Devils. Coach Barry Trotz said Oshie could fly up Friday morning if he’s feeling better, but it seems unlikely.

The Capitals return to Washington on Saturday to play the St. Louis Blues, Oshie’s former team.

“Just a flu bug, I think,” Trotz said.

The forward lines in practice had Justin Williams as the first-line right wing with Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom. Marcus Johansson moved back to the wing on the second line, which put Jay Beagle at third-line center. Stanislav Galiev was the forward added to the lineup, on the fourth line with Mike Richards and Daniel Winnik.

Oshie hasn’t missed a game this season, and he’s hit his career-high in goals (23) to go with 22 assists. He typically plays on the first power-play unit, and Williams took his place there in practice.

While Oshie will likely miss the game, Trotz said defenseman John Carlson is traveling with the team and looks game-ready, so he could be in the lineup against the Devils after missing 13 games following a procedure for a lingering lower-body injury.

Here’s what the lines looked like on Thursday:

Alex Ovechkin-Nicklas Backstrom-Justin Williams
Andre Burakovsky-Evgeny Kuznetsov-Marcus Johansson
Jason Chimera-Jay Beagle-Tom Wilson
Daniel Winnik-Mike Richards-Stanislav Galiev

Karl Alzner-Matt Niskanen
Brooks Orpik-Dmitry Orlov
Nate Schmidt-John Carlson
Mike Weber-Taylor Chorney
