Video: Medal of Honor recipient Ryan Pitts closes NYSE, destroys gavel, looks horrified

Just two days after receiving the nation’s highest award for battlefield valor, the Medal of Honor, former Army Staff Sgt. Ryan Pitts rang the closing bell of the New York Stock Exchange Wednesday.

The gavel never stood a chance.

The New York Stock Exchange wanted to make sure Pitts didn’t worry about the accident:
