For a fleeting moment online this week the world thought it would see an aging Sylvester Stallone reprise his role as the most misunderstood veteran of our time: John Rambo. This time battling the Islamic State in the sun-soaked deserts of Iraq and Syria.

The film’s rumored title? Last Blood. (For those not in the know, the first Rambo was called First Blood).

The rumors appear to have originated with a fake news report that Stallone, speaking from the Comic-Con convention in San Diego, was scouting filming locations for the movie in Islamic State strongholds.

The Internet reacted accordingly.

Some voiced skepticism about Stallone looking for filming locations in active war zones:

While others already had the Oscar winning scene all planned out:

But in the end, the announcement, like many things on the internet, turned out to be false.

A spokesperson for Stallone told Rolling Stone that the initial reports were incorrect, while another told Foreign Policy that he didn’t even attend Comic-Con.

Rambo has fought in war zones from Vietnam to Afghanistan. The Islamic State will have to wait.
