“So dark. You sure you’re not from the DC Universe?”

Those are the latest words from Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds — who else?), as he’s being beaten with vicious fists and insults by Cable (Josh Brolin) — and they’re perhaps the best meta-punchline ever delivered across the superhero cinematic universes.

The final “Deadpool 2” trailer was released Thursday, and the Merc With a Mouth is in rapid-fire form as he and Weasel (T.J. Miller) hold tryouts for Deadpool’s “super duper” new team.

Deadpool also drops a meta-reference to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Brolin’s double-duty as superhero-franchise villains, saying, “Pump the hate brakes, Thanos” (Brolin will be seen as Thanos in this month’s “Avengers: Infinity War”).

The trailer opens with Deadpool’s directive to the freshly formed squad — “Intercept the convoy. Watch out for Cable.” — as a rig wends its way through snowy mountains worthy of “Captain America.”

Soon we see how this team was assembled, as potential members simply answer an ad and state their qualifications, including Shatterstar (Lewis Tan) and Domino (Zazie Beetz).

“Time to get back on LinkedIn,” says Weasel (though Miller is arguably the last actor you want right now in a trailer featuring transportation attacks).

The trailer also introduces such new team members as Bedlam (Terry Crews) and non-superpowered newcomer Peter W. (Rob Delaney), a curious, mild-mannered beekeeper whom the Deadpool film Twitter account is now following as part of its social-media rollout (only the second account it follows after @HelloKitty).

Fox’s “Deadpool 2,” which also returns the characters Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), Blind Al (Leslie Uggams), Dopinder (Karan Soni), Colossus (Stefan Kapicic) and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), will be released May 18.
