D.C. United is calling for a Blackout for tomorrow’s playoff game, asking fans at RFK to show up in all black. Even the VW Garage (pic above) is getting a darker makeover for the occasion.

Started in 1999, the team has held a blackout for every playoff run since. They’re 5-2-2 in games featuring a stadium full of fans in all black gear, so the record would imply that going along with it is in everyone’s best interest.

An actual blackout at Red Bull Arena in New Jersey forced the swapping of home dates, giving the folks at RFK, and the fans, a short amount of time to prepare for a home playoff match. More on that later.

So, make sure your black kits are clean (or not, if you’re the superstitious type). Here’s a D.C. United Blackout video to get you pumped in the meantime.
