If you’re one of the many supporters jumping on the team-provided buses and heading to New Jersey to cheer on D.C. United, dress warm. Dress very warm.
Tonight’s game, originally scheduled to be played at RFK, was switched thanks to the aftereffects of Superstorm Sandy. In a cruel twist of fate, a nor’easter is predicted to sweep through just in time for tonight’s match.
“It’s going to be nasty, which I am okay with,” Coach Ben Olsen told WaPo’s Steven Goff. “I like our group with that stuff.”
Chris Pontius agrees.
“I kind of like it,” he said. “Our team is built for that.”
Let’s hope the fans are built for that, too.
BECAUSE YOU DON’T READ THE PAPER

* Jason Reid is sticking by Shanahan because of RGIII.
* Michael Lee with a great profile on Bradley Beal.
* D.C. United heads to New Jersey for the second leg of the MLS Eastern Conference semifinals, and are preparing for more troublesome weather.

QUOTE OF THE NIGHT
Kedric Golston, on Shanahan’s speech to the team:
“I think the same leniency that you want to give players after the game—Coach was upset, get his thoughts together—I think should be applied in this situation as far as Coach Shanahan is concerned. This is the NFL. We’re always being evaluated, you know what I mean. You want guys that want to play. It’s easy to play when you’re winning and everything’s good. But you find out the true character of a man when things are down. Tough times don’t last. Tough people do. So the fact of the matter is, it’s not what Coach Shanahan said. It’s about how we respond coming out of this bye when we play Philly.”
