Erin Andrews did an interview with Robert Griffin III for NFL on Fox, and the network posted some footage that ended up on the cutting-room floor. He talks about his childhood admiration of John Elway, and of course drops a “no pressure, no diamonds” reference.

At one point Andrews asked about being compared to other athletic black quarterbacks, and RGIII shared his thoughts.

“I think it’s human nature that we want to find something similar to something else,” he said. “So you want to have that comparison and I know they’re always gonna come. It doesn’t bother me at all. For me, it’s not a shot at Cam. Cam probably doesn’t want to me compared to me. He wants to be compared to other players, like a Steve Young, a Fran Tarkenton, a Kenny Stabler. Any of those guys from back in the day that moved around as a quarterback a little bit.

“You just don’t want it to be completely based on, obviously, color or anything like that,” he continued. “Just the way you play the game. Although we might have the same color skin, not all of us play the game the same way.”

The full interview aired on Sunday. I’ll share it when we have it.
