Ivan Carter no longer with Comcast SportsNet

Ivan Carter, the Post sportswriter turned TV host, is leaving Comcast SportsNet, according to a statement from the network.

“Comcast SportsNet has decided to make changes to the on-air team for SportsTalk Live, its daily talk show,” the statement read. “Ivan Carter will no longer appear on the program; his contract is expiring and he is leaving the network. Brian Mitchell will continue to co-host and will be joined by guests until a permanent replacement is named.”

Carter came to the D.C. market in 2005, covering local colleges for The Post before moving onto the Wizards beat during the height of the Gilbert Arenas craze. He joined Comcast SportsNet as the host of Washington Post Live in the spring of 2009. After that show went off the air, Carter and Brian Mitchell became the co-hosts for the nightly SportsTalk Live last winter.

Efforts to reach Carter, whom I consider a friend, were unsuccessful.
