Randy Wittman: ‘I might be dumb’

The Wizards lost their ninth in a row to start the season, a franchise worst. The NBA record for worst season starts is 0-18. Keep your eyes on the prize, boys.

Randy Wittman is just as frustrated as anyone, and his postgame quotes last night were both sad and hilarious. Mostly sad.

“I believe these guys can win. I don’t have doubts. I come in here every day, thinking: ‘This is the night. I feel good,’ ” Wittman said, via Michael Lee. “I might be dumb.”

Oscar Wilde once said that the basis of optimism is sheer terror. Sounds about right.

Here’s Wittman on his lineups: “I don’t know who to start, who to play, who not to play,” Wittman said. “It’s a confusion of different guys, every game. Whether starter or bench. We have no consistency. To get off to a start like we did tonight, it was no excuse for it.”

And here he is on whether he’ll start a producing Shaun Livingston: “Oh, I don’t know. If I had that answer right now, I’d be a genius.”

Then there’s this Twitter exchange from two of my favorite people.

 So many questions, you guys.
