Verizon Center to switch from Coke to Pepsi products

(Tracy A. Woodward/The Washington Post)

When I attend a Wizards game, even as a civilian and not a Bogger, I like to keep my mind sharp. After all, I never know when there will be fans with paper bags on their heads to interview. So when I belly up to the bar at Verizon Center, the bartender always has a Coke Zero ready for me.

Last night she handed me my beverage, along with some bad news. The concessions workers had all been told that the arena was going to be switching to Pepsi products in the near future. Devastated, I took to Twitter with the news, figuring it was a throwaway tweet at best. Boy, was I wrong.

The Wizards don’t have a date for the switch and haven’t made an official announcement yet, so enjoy those rum and Cokes while you can. And hey, if we’re lucky, the upcoming beverage trade comes with Mountain Dew, Mug Root Beer and a drink to be named later.
