RGIII-Rob Parker flap makes French press

Is this a story about the heft of ESPN? The power of blogs? The celebrity of Robert Griffin III? The rapaciousness of the international sports media? The perils of a slow news day?

No idea. But here is French sports daily L’Equipe, covering the RGIII-First Take flap with the headline, “Is RG III ‘black’ enough?”, as prompted by “Rob Parker, chroniqueur d’ESPN.”

YOU SEE WHAT YOU DID ROB PARKER? NOW INNOCENT SPORTS FANS IN FRANCE ARE BEING SUBJECTED TO FIRST TAKE-QUALITY ‘EMBRACE DEBATE’ STYLE QUESTIONS THAT NO ONE IN THE REAL WORLD IS EVEN ASKING.

Whew. Anyhow, The Bog’s newfound European-RGIII-beat reporter, Steve Wilson, reports that L’Equipe had a bit of trouble with Parker’s “cornball brother” phrase, going with “faux frere,” or “fake brother,” which sounds a lot classier than cornball brother anyhow. Wilson also suggests we henceforth refer to the QB as Er Gie Trois. Ibid.
