Back around the time of the draft, some Skins fans brought a giant RGIII head to a WWE taping at Verizon Center, and it was big news. To me, at least.
Within a few short months, though, the people in the stands at pro wrestling events weren’t the only ones excited about the quarterback. Yes, fans chanted RGIII’s name repeatedly during Saturday’s taping at Verizon Center, but that wasn’t as good as this bit of dialog between John Cena and Damien Sandow.
“T.S. Eliot once said, ‘This is how the world ends, not with a bang but with a whimper,’ ” Sandow said.
“I believe it was the famous poet Robert Griffin III that once said, and I quote, ‘You guys suck,’ ” Cena countered.
“Of all the greats I have studied, I assure you, I have never heard of that man,” Sandow said.
Then the fans started a deafening “RGIII” chant, interrupting the dialog.
“SILENCE” Sandow roared.
The fans kept chanting.
Coming up next, House members interrupt Fiscal Cliff voting with “RGIII” chants.”
