A few days ago, new Nats outfielder took to Twitter to ask fans what his jersey number should be.

A number of astute fans pointed out that the Nos. 2 and 3 are spoken for on the Nats Roster, the former by Roger Bernadina and the latter by Wilson Ramos. The logical conclusion was that Span, who stated he wanted a single-digit number, would be forced to choose No. 7.

But some tweets from last night revealed a surprise ending.

Usually when a player gives up his number it’s in exchange for something, so it’s likely that Bernadina isn’t walking away from the deal with just a new jersey marker.
