Robert Griffin III took the trip to New Orleans to accept his offensive rookie of the year honor, narrated a piece on Doug Williams and appeared in a Subway commercial on Sunday. But the Redskins quarterback stopped short of attending the weekend’s main event in person.
”I’m a firm believer you don’t go to the Super Bowl unless you’re playing in it,” Griffin said, according to the Associated Press.
It’s a little more extreme than the hockey tradition of not touching the Stanley Cup unless you’ve won it, but we all know that RGIII is a pretty intense guy.
Fellow rookie teammate Alfred Morris apparently doesn’t subscribe to such superstitions, tweeting this photo before heading in to see his first Super Bowl game in person. Worth noting is that Morris’s Instagram handle is thoroughbred_fred.
