When Jay Beagle called for a goat sacrifice to help the Caps change their mojo, I knew it was only a matter of time before Hugh Kaufman and company got involved.
“I’ve never actually seen the puck bounce, and it’s not all bounces, but there’s a lot of bounces that aren’t going our way,” Beagle said on Wednesday. “I don’t know if we have to sacrifice a cow or something. I don’t know what we have to do.”
Kaufman, who made rubber chicken sacrifices a cult staple at Nats Park, has inspired some fellow fans to expand the tradition to another struggling D.C. team. A rubber goat and cow sacrifice is planned for tomorrow morning at Kettler during the Caps’ morning skate, which is currently scheduled for 10 a.m. Stay tuned to the Twitter feed of reader @jennrubenstein for more details throughout the day.

QUOTE OF THE NIGHT
Karl Alzner, offering a possible explanation for all of the losing:
“We’re weak mentally right now. When they score a goal, we’re not bouncing back quick enough. When momentum is against us, we’re not fighting past that, whether it’s with a big hit or a fight or something. We’re not an emotional enough team right now, and that’s something that has to change if you want to win.”
PHOTO OF THE DAY
Martell Webster tweeted these pics with this explanation: “Hey everyone so I just got this foot stool on sale at Home Depot.” Just adorable.
