Hoyas win at Syracuse, Rich Chvotkin rejoices

By Kevin Rivoli/Associated Press.

‘Twas quite a Saturday in D.C. sports, with crucial victories from George Mason, Maryland, the Caps and the Wizards, all at home.

The day’s most impressive accomplishment, though, was surely Georgetown’s convincing win at Syracuse, during the waning days of the Hoyas-Orange Big East rivalry. With a virtuoso performance from Otto Porter and a commanding second half, the Hoyas closed that building in style.

(Well, the building isn’t closing. You know what I mean.)

And longtime play-by-play man Rich Chvotkin left the building with similar panache, rattling off 15 of his signature “Hoyas Win!” calls at the end of the game. That doesn’t touch his modern-era record of 17, accomplished most recently two Februaries ago (I believe), but it was still pretty good.
