Kristina Akra leaving MASN

Kristina Akra arrived in D.C. last spring as the Nats’ new sideline reporter, and immediately became part of the most memorable season in franchise history. From her several Gatorade showers to her interviews with Mark Lerner and Bryce Harper to her part in the NL East championship celebration, Akra was linked with many of the happiest moments in the team’s happiest season.

Turns out that will be her only season in that role. Akra will not be returning to MASN for the 2013 season; she is leaving for another as-yet-unannounced on-air opportunity.

Akra replaced Debbi Taylor on the MASN team in 2012, joining Bob Carpenter and F.P. Santangelo. That broadcast duo will be back in 2013. I have a call into MASN about possible replacements for Akra’s role.
