The excitement surrounding a supposed rebirth of D.C. pro sports has taken a lengthy pause this winter, as John Wall’s injury and the Caps’ slow start inserted a rancid sink hole into what had been thought of as a fragrant new summit.
The Nats, though, remain unblemished, and so the Junkies asked Bryce Harper on 106.7 The Fan this week for his thoughts on what ails the Caps and Wizards.
“They need to get some Capitude and some Wizitude or something like that,” Harper joked. “You know, I think the Redskins did a great job last year, really played well. RGIII was unbelievable, and their running back was great too. The Capitals are very good, so they’re gonna get going. The Wizards are gonna get going — they’ve got two young guys that are pretty unbelievable there. I just think it’s a good time to be a D.C. sports fan. We’re excited to get into the baseball season; I think there’s a lot of people that are very excited for us to get into [it].”
The most important lesson from this quote: If you thought “-Tude” jokes were going away after the first season of “Natitude,” think again. More on that later today, actually.
Harper was also asked if he sent along any Under Armour gear to Robert Griffin III, as a complement to his own love of the RGIII’s Adidas socks.
“You know, those socks were pretty unbelievable,” Harper said. “Those were his rookie of the year socks, and I think he’s got some pretty good socks. I don’t think he’d want to wear any of mine, because his sock game is pretty swagged out.”
Swaggitude, you might say.
