When Denard Span boarded the bus from Viera to Kissimmee on Monday to play the Astros, it was without one crucial item. Span had forgotten his jersey.

Span was likely being generous in his announcement. As F.P. Santangelo a broadcaster I don’t know pointed out during the broadcast, “Big leaguers don’t forget their stuff. Somebody forgets it for them.”

Any possibility of a permanent switch from No. 2 was dashed after Span had a less-than-stellar night.

The temporary number change also meant Span was nameless for a game. Here’s video of the broadcasters having a little fun with it.
