Anthony Rendon loses his helmet on a swing, gets first MLB hit

When you’re brought up from the minors for a brief stint, sometimes you end up with equipment that doesn’t fit you quite right. That was possibly the case with Anthony Rendon, who lost his helmet on a particularly hard swing Monday. The Nats infielder, who is temporarily taking Ryan Zimmerman’s place in the lineup, laughed as he returned his helmet to its rightful place, and then got his first major league hit on the next pitch.

“That’s the one thing you’re going to cherish for the rest of your life,” Rendon said in his postgame interview. “You don’t get another one. The second one doesn’t count as much as the first one.”

Here’s video of the at-bat. Come for the helmet shenanigans, stay for awkward high fives at the 0:50 mark.
