Mike Ribeiro’s game-winning goal: the audio

Mike Ribeiro’s game-winning game 5 overtime goal late on Friday night caused many enthusiastic displays of enthusiasm in a city that’s been clutching its sternum for several days.

There was Alex Ovechkin, who used the occasion to demonstrate his vertical leap, tired legs or no tired legs.

There was Smokin’ Al Koken, who kept it classy with a discrete fist pump in the tunnel that somehow wound up on Comcast SportsNet’s broadcast.

There was Matthieu Perreault, who shook his body like tomorrow might never come, but who cares, because tonight is alive with rhythm and joy.

And then there was John Walton, providing the radio play-by-play, heard locally on 106.7 The Fan. He got excited, as he’s wont to do in playoff overtime sessions.
