Last week, Dan Snyder put his foot down and said that he has no intentions on changing the Redskins name. Josh Morgan called into LaVar and Dukes on 106.7 on Friday, and during the chat was asked about Snyder’s public declaration.
“I’m happy,” Morgan said. “I was kinda getting scared when everybody started talking about the Redtails, and all this other stuff. I was getting a little nervous about that.
“That’s kind of taking away from the Tuskegee Airmen,” he continued. “That was their name.”
Morgan’s reluctance to support a name change is rooted in his own history as a fan.
“I grew up right down the street from RFK stadium,” he said. “As a matter of fact, I’m sitting here right now. All I know is the Redskins, so I’m glad we’re not going ever to change the name.”
Morgan, who was named the Redskins’ Walter Payton man of the year in January, was on the show to promote his appearance at the Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure on Saturday.
