Since there has been some chatter about whether Robert Griffin III is getting too big for his metaphorical britches, I figured I’d pass this along. Redskins rookie tight end Jordan Reed attended the NFLPA Rookie Premiere in L.A. over the weekend, and while there, he hopped on SiriusXM NFL Radio with Alex Marvez and Jim Miller. The duo asked him what the biggest surprise of his short time with the Redskins has been.

“Just how humble the guys are,” Reed replied. “Guys like RGIII and Santana Moss, guys that have been proven to be good players in the NFL. Everybody’s real humble and down-to-earth, and ready to work and keep growing and bring our team even past what we did last year. So that’s the thing that surprised me the most.”

Reed also expressed great enthusiasm about serving a blocking role for a team that ran like crazy last season.

“For sure, man,” Reed said. “There’s some great blocking tight ends on the team right now, so I get a chance to learn from them and perfect my craft. So I’m excited, man. I’m gonna work hard and keep improving….I think I have a good chance to be a good player in the NFL, with my athleticism and the way I create mismatches for linebackers and things like that. So I think I could do pretty good in the NFL.”

Mike Wise thinks the Wizards should try to deal their newly acquired No. 3 pick in next month’s draft. “The Wizards don’t have years. They have next season. Postseason or bust. That’s it…” he wrote. “And if Ernie Grunfeld can secure an established veteran now for that pick, someone who could even help take this franchise to the second round for the first time since 2005, he’s got to take that chance.”

I was at the Truth About It draft lottery party at Lou’s City Bar when the Wizards found out they had moved up in the draft order Tuesday night. The crowd was pleased.

Bryce Harper appeared to pull up on what became a ninth-inning game-tying triple late late late Tuesday night. Later, he explained why.

“I don’t want to hit the frickin’ wall full-on,” Harper said. “Of course that crosses your mind after you jam into a wall. It doesn’t really feel very good. It [stinks] that I couldn’t make the play. I totally put that loss on me.”

Disturbing news from the inventor of the GIF, via the New York Times: “He is proud of the GIF, but remains annoyed that there is still any debate over the pronunciation of the format. ‘The Oxford English Dictionary accepts both pronunciations,’ Mr. Wilhite said. ‘They are wrong. It is a soft G,’ pronounced jif. End of story.’ ”
