Stephen Strasburg talks about what’s on his iPod

Stephen Strasburg isn’t the Nats’ most obvious consumer pitchman, so it’s fun to see him in this Beats by Dre video.  He talks about baseball (obviously), but also reveals what’s on his iPod.

“I think listening to music really helps me push my training to another level,” he says in the video. “If I go out on a run and I don’t have anything to listen to, I’m probably not going to get a good workout in, so I gotta have something to pump me up and get the adrenaline going.

“I’m extremely eclectic,” he continues. “I got a little bit of everything. I’ve got some Wale, Lil Wayne. I’ve even got Slipknot, Incubus, Garth Brooks, a little Jason Aldean. It all depends on what I’m in the mood [for]. I don’t listen to country when I’m training. It’s either rap or hard rock when I’m in there lifting or running.”

Davey Johnson has often expressed the opinion that sometimes Strasburg needs to dial back the intensity and relax a bit. Maybe he can slip some Enya or Sade into the tunes rotation.
