Ian Desmond hits grand slam, gets #eatface trending on Twitter (Video)

With one swing of Ian Desmond’s bat on Wednesday, “Eat Face” went from a silly joke to an actual, real thing. With T-shirts and everything.

Desmond’s first career grand slam in the 11th inning led to a 6-2 comeback win over the Phillies for the Nats. His tweet earlier yesterday may have foreshadowed his moment.

After the game, Desmond said his “eat face grand slam” tasted good, and then he and Ryan Mattheus celebrated appropriately on Twitter.

According to an image tweeted by the Nationals’ team account, #eatface was trending on Twitter in Washington after Desmond’s blast, accompanied by #Nats, Ian Desmond, and #steak, for good measure. “Eat Face” is the new Natitude.

Here’s the shot, in all its glory.
