During a chat with Comcast SportsNet recently, Bryce Harper was asked if he wants his future children to be baseball players.

“I could care less if they play baseball or anything,” Harper replied. “You know, it’s something that if I play this game for a long time, hopefully, I’d love to have my kids come to the field with me, just like Drake and just like Jackson for Werth and LaRoche. I think that’s really cool.

“But if they want to be the next Mozart, or wanna dance and do things like that, hey, I could care less. Whatever they’re gonna do I’m gonna support them no matter what. That’s far down the road, but I would never push sports on them at all.”

Maybe they’ll want to be sports bloggers.

Despite his feelings on pushing them into sports, there’s at least one activity that he wants his piano-playing, dancing, not-yet-existing children to pick up.

“I hope they golf, so I can go out and golf with them,” he said, as an afterthought. “That’d be something I’d like to do.”

TWEET OF THE NIGHT

QUOTE OF THE NIGHT
Denard Span on his game-winning catch:

“I take pride in my defense. Would I like to be hitting .400? Of course. But I love the feeling of taking a hit from somebody or robbing a home run or robbing an extra-base hit. There’s no better feeling than being able to do that, especially like tonight.”
