RGIII’s latest SI cover

Robert Griffin III again graces the cover of Sports Illustrated, this time in a series of regional offerings, titled, “The New Kings,” that also feature Colin Kaepernick, Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson.

RGIII’s cover story is teased as “Why RGIII = John Elway” and is described on SI’s Audibles with this blurb:

“Before suffering a season-ending knee injury in the playoffs, RGIII terrorized defenses with his unique combination of speed and arm strength. MMQB.com staff writer Jenny Vrentas writes that just because RGIII was “born to run,” doesn’t mean he can’t become an all-time gunslinger like John Elway.”

Sure, RGIII could be the next Elway. Hopefully minus the 15-year wait for a ring.

If you’re keeping track, as we clearly are, RGIII’s cover resume also includes his GQ cover shot, a national Sports Illustrated cover, a regional Sports Illustrated cover, two ESPN the Magazine covers and a Washington Post magazine cover.
