Niles Paul was padding around the locker room at Redskins Park on Wednesday in a pair of Redskins-colored socks with the D.C. skyline around the top. Well, a loose interpretation of the nonexistent D.C. skyline.

“I stole them from Chris Thompson,” the tight end told me when I asked where he got them. “Do they look okay? There a little small. The monument is all messed-up looking.”

As you can see in the pic below, he’s correct. The left-foot monument looks quite drunk.

I sought out Thompson, who was pulling on his own pair when I caught up with him.

“They’re cool, right?” said Thompson, whose list of free things now includes Starbursts and socks. “Some random dude tweeted me and asked if I wanted some, and I said sure.”

That random dude was Vincent Simon of Lineup, which sells city-inspired socks priced for $13.50 a pair. They come in other D.C. team colors, if burgundy and gold aren’t your thing.
