Caps pose for amazing photos with dogs

Here’s Alex Ovechkin wearing a cowboy hat and Crocs and holding a pitbull wrapped in a Caps scarf. What else do you even need to know?

Oh, fine, some context: Ovechkin and several Caps teammates posed with dogs after practice Tuesday for a calendar that will benefit Homeward Trails Animal Rescue. The players’ wives and girlfriends selected the charity, and Mike Green’s fiancee, Courtney Parrie, was the photographer.

All of the dogs from the shoot are available for adoption, except for Michal Neuvirth’s dog, Tractor. Marcus Johansson said he fell in love with the dog he posed with and would have adopted it if his girlfriend lived in D.C. to help out.

Also, if you’re wondering about the weird props, the shoot had a “photo-booth” theme. It’s all the rage of the wedding and bar-mitzvah scenes right now.

It hasn’t yet been determined when the calendar will go on sale, but here’s a sneak preview from our own Sarah Kogod:
