As they have in recent weeks, television cameras managed to catch Robert Griffin III’s pregame speech on Sunday. This landed the speech on blogs, and in post-game highlight packages.
Which led to this exchange, from the NFL Network.
RGIII, in the huddle: “All the adversity that we’ve been through the first couple weeks, it’s ony going to make our breakthrough feel that much better. Today, we get our breakthrough.”
Deion Sanders: “That sounded like that was on a teleprompter.”
Host person: “What’s the matter with reading something off a teleprompter?”
Sanders: “Not when you’re speaking to your team. [In square voice] ‘We’ve got to get our breakthrough.’ ”
Then he made a joke about Charles Tillman getting his breakthrough on that first-half interception.
PHOTO OF THE NIGHT
Pierre Garcon wrote “Hi Mom” on his pink mouthguard before Sunday’s game.
RULE SUGGESTION OF THE NIGHT
Not sure if this was sarcasm or not.
Special teams r killing teams. Maybe the league should eliminate them. Some teams would benefit.

FROM WALTER JOHNSON TO RGIII
Slate has an amazing new tool that allows you to connect players from different sports and different eras in a few small steps. An astute reader pointed out that you can get from Walter Johnson to RGIII in just seven steps, including Tommy John, Deion Sanders and Brett Favre. Look at the full tree here.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
After tending to his sick father and another ill relative in Brazil, Nene rejoined the Wizards, and Randy Wittman spoke with emotion about it:
“This is his family, too,” Wittman said. “We love him here. We care about him and I think getting back here is a comforting thing for him. All of the guys feel the same way and kind of expressed that to him, too, when he was gone.”
GIF MAKER PROFILE OF THE DAY
The New York Times takes a look at Deadspin’s Timothy Burke, who specializes in screengrabs and GIFs and staring into the void. ““I am not able to do many other things,” Burke said of his life in general. This, though, is the life we’ve chosen. At least he doesn’t have to write about pizza toppings.
GIF OF THE DAY
Speaking of which, here’s a GIF. It’s Roy Helu’s first touchdown run on Sunday. Not sure why I’m including it here. Because I couldn’t find Chris Baker’s Terio dance, I guess. It’s via the Redskins Blog.
