Want to win over a student body? Send a passel of cheerleaders bringing dozens of free hot dogs to the student section at a mid-week basketball game.

I mean, that’s just one suggestion. I’m sure there are others.

George Washington, of course, held a dollar dog night at its Tuesday night meeting with Delaware State. Coach Mike Lonergan announced before the game that he would be treating students to dogs.

As it turned out, the dollar dogs were a popular menu item, and the school limited Lonergan to buying 100. He paid for them with a $100 bill too, which is the best way ever to buy 100 hot dogs.

More than 600 hot dogs were sold, on a night when 2,037 people watched the Colonials rout Delaware State, 94-50, the team’s biggest win since 2006. GW is 4-0 for the first time since 2009.
