Caps game story line on CBS sitcom ‘The Millers’

A Caps game was a brief backdrop for part of a story line on Thursday night’s episode of “The Millers.” The team was so excited about the appearance of the brand that they put out a press release Thursday afternoon announcing the story line. From the release:

The Millers, a CBS original comedy starring Will Arnett, will feature the Washington Capitals during its Thursday, Nov. 21, episode airing at 8:30 p.m. on CBS.

The Millers stars Arnett as Nathan Miller, a recently divorced local roving news reporter looking forward to living the singles life until his parents’ marital problems unexpectedly derail his plans. During the Nov. 21 episode, several of the show’s characters attend a Washington Capitals game together.

“Growing up in Arlington, Va., I’ve been a Caps fan for a long time,” said show creator and executive producer Greg Garcia. “Once my son Nathan started playing hockey, we started watching the Caps together. Since The Millers takes place in Leesburg, Va., it makes sense that the characters are Caps fans as well.”

Dan has written before about Garcia’s D.C. sports fandom, which popped up often on the Fox series “Raising Hope.”

If you’re like me and don’t usually watch “The Millers,” here are screencaps of every Caps-related appearance. In case you’re wondering, J. B. Smoove’s character is blue thanks to a run-in with a rogue security sensor on a dress. Sitcom hijinks!
