NFL Network prematurely announces Mike Shanahan’s firing

(via @jclewter)

As Dan mentioned earlier, Dan Snyder and Mike Shanahan seem to be in a stalemate, each wanting the other to make the move to end Shanahan’s coaching term in Washington. With a year left on his contract, Shanahan getting fired is the most likely scenario.

The only question left is when it will happen. I’m fairly certain that most news organizations have their Shanahan coaching obituary pieces locked and loaded for when the time comes, but NFL Network was a little quick on the draw Monday, airing a graphic announcing that Shanahan had been fired.

Not yet, guys. Hold your fire.
