Tom Sherwood trolls the Redskins

My colleague Paul Farhi recently wrote about the Redskins’ official media partners, and how they might or might not be treated differently from non-partner organizations. Included was this passage:

The Redskins’ media partners — WRC-TV (known as NBC4), ESPN 980 radio and the regional cable network Comcast SportsNet Washington — insist they have never compromised their reporting despite paying millions of dollars for partnerships each year. Yet several episodes underscore the inherent conflict.

Indeed, there are arguments to be made on both sides. But forget about all that, and instead just watch this video of WRC’s Tom Sherwood trolling the burgundy out of the franchise this week.

Among his bon mots:

* “At Potomac Yard in Alexandria, we couldn’t find one car festooned with Skins gear.”

* “Inside the Sports Authority, there was plenty of Redskins gear….But not much was moving today.”

* “Even at the sports store, we were having trouble finding Redskins fans. We told them you could use a seat cover to cover your face when you leave the stands. But even the dummies were embarrassed to be fans today.”

Then he pulled a hat over the non-face of a mannequin.

Oh, and Sherwood asked one guy this question.

“If your child were old enough, what would you tell them about their Skins?”

“To not pay attention until Dan Snyder can get his act together,” the man responded.

If that’s what the official media partner is airing…
