For our final year-end D.C. sports list, Dan and I crunched a few numbers to sum up 2013. Some of them are good. Most of them are bad. Many mean nothing at all. But here they are. (Previously: the best D.C. sports quotes, the worst D.C. sports moments, the best D.C. sports gifs, the best D.C. sports moments.)
Collective regular season winning percentage of Redskins (.214), Caps (.585), Wizards (.461) and Nats (.530) in the calendar year of 2013. (Combined percentage was reached by counting Caps’ overtime losses as ties.)
Percent of 16 surveyed local media members who predicted the Redskins would beat the Eagles in this year’s opener.
Percent of 11 surveyed local media members who predicted the Nats would advance at least to the NLCS. Nine of the 11 had the Nats going to the World Series.
Days since Mike Shanahan was hired. If he’s fired at the end of the season, Ben Olsen will become D.C.’s longest tenured coach (1117 days).
Salary forfeited because of suspensions. See below:

Combined weekly honors in 2013 for Alex Ovechkin and John Wall. Ovechkin was the NHL’s first star twice last spring and has already earned that honor twice this season. Wall earned the NBA’s Eastern Conference player of the week once last spring and once this season.
Pitches thrown to Bryce Harper by his dad, Ron, at the all-star game.
Alex Ovechkin’s 82-game goal pace in 2013 (vs. 43.5 in 2012).
Knee surgeries (Nats: Bryce Harper; Caps: John Erskine; Wizards: Al Harrington; Redskins: RGIII, Leonard Hankerson, Stephen Bowen, Maurice Hurt, Nick Sundberg, Bryan Kehl, Richard Crawford; United: Marcelo Saragosa — twice in two months.)
Estimated total cap/payroll of four major D.C. pro teams, according to figures from Spotrac.com. (Nats payroll and Redskins total cap is for 2013; Caps and Wizards total cap numbers are for 2013-14. No, these aren’t exact.)
The Redskins’ current point differential. That’s worse than the two years of Jim Zorn, combined. Unless the Redskins outscore the Cowboys and Giants by 10 points, the season will end with their worst point differential since 1961.
Weeks we were “All in” for.
