Redskins decline to share photo of Christmas tree

(Toni L. Sandys/The Washington Post)

With the holidays approaching, the Wall Street Journal decided to do an “NFL Christmas-Tree Power Rankings.” The paper contacted all 32 teams and asked for photos of the trees at their practice facilities. Two teams, the Falcons and the Buccaneers, said they didn’t have trees. Only one team that had a tree declined to share a photo. Which team might that be? Go on, guess. I’ll wait here.

So what’s so top-secret about the Redskins’ Christmas tree? Are there presents for Kirk Cousins underneath it but not RGIII? Did they get it from along the Potomac River? Or does the privilege of seeing Christmas tree photos belong to preferred media partners only?

In fairness, the Redskins have more PR issues to worry about than many NFL teams these days, and sending out photos of Christmas trees probably isn’t high on the list. Plus, there does seem to be at least some holiday cheer at Redskins Park today: RGIII apparently gave all of his offensive linemen Xbox Ones.
