‘RGKNEE’ and 39 other RGIII license plates

This is something I’ve been thinking about lately: Part of the reason it’s so easy to find candid photos of Robert Griffin III on social media is because his name is very easily abbreviated and hashtagged. Like, it’s a lot easier to throw an #RG3 or an #RGIII on a photo or tweet than a #Kaepernick or a #Tannehill, and it’s a lot more distinctive of a tag than #Wilson or #Luck.

This also, I think, applies to the insane glut of RGIII-inspired vanity license plates. It’s not that Redskins fans necessarily love their quarterback more than fans in Seattle or San Francisco or Denver; it’s just that it’s a lot easier to put their quarterback’s name in a six- or seven-character space.

Thus, this blog post. I’ve featured some of these before. Others are new to me. And I’m sure I’m missing some. Still, here are 40 vanity license plates that pay tribute in some way to Robert Griffin III. I can’t imagine many — or maybe any — quarterback in NFL history has inspired quite so many vanity plates.

Eternal thanks to research assistant @recordsANDradio. Also, this took forever, so please hit refresh 10 or 11 times and send it to your friends.
